prioritize self love when overweight

Unfortunately, around 91% of women are not happy with their bodies and end up resorting to diets just to achieve the body shape they think is ideal. If you are part of this percentage, it is important to practice self-love and body positivity. We have put together this short guide to share how you can prioritize self-love no matter your weight

Read on to learn how you can prioritize self-love.

Goodbye to What Doesn’t Serve You

One of the best things to do in order to prioritize self-love is to say goodbye to anything and anyone that doesn’t serve you. Whether this means saying goodbye to a friend or a relative because they are shaming your weight and appearance. It is difficult to love yourself when you have someone talking negatively about how you look every time they see you.

This also applies to social media, you don’t have to follow people that don’t serve your best interests.

Improve Mental Health

Another way to practice self-love when you are a bit overweight is to work on your own mindset. Find programs like the one founded by Megan Smith to help support your mental health. Also, you should take time to meditate and practice things such as yoga and pilates.

These types of exercises will help you feel better about yourself and teach you how to center your thoughts. As an added bonus pilates will also improve your posture because it will strengthen muscles you don’t normally use.

Write to Yourself

You want to grab two pieces of paper so that you can write all the things that you love about yourself on one sheet of paper. On the second piece of paper write all the things you wish you could change about yourself.

Read both of your letters or lists out loud and then throw away or burn the letter with the negative list. Burning the letter can be a symbolic way to see those negative things burning away. Make sure that you focus on the positive letter or list and be proud of all those positives.

Remember What’s on the Inside Is What Counts

Your weight will never define your personality and how you are as a person. The way you think, and the way you act are what defines you and in the end, this is what truly counts. There are some super skinny people that are mean and nasty and larger folks that are as sweet as honey and vice versa.

Everyone ages and the outward appearance will not even matter one day. Focus on how you treat people and how you treat yourself.

Ready to Love Yourself Wholeheartedly?

Now it’s time to love yourself no matter how much you weigh. No matter the weight you are, the goal in life is to be happy and feel healthy. It is beautiful to accept and embrace your beauty.
